Psychotherapy is an exercise in reparenting, which is essentially the act of giving yourself what you didn’t receive as a child. It is a safe space to reflect on old wounding and patterns that may be disrupting your life so that you can repair and adopt new ways of relating to the world. Clients who work with me often feel a restored sense of agency and an ability to reclaim the life they have always envisioned for themselves.

COUPLES THERAPY

Relationships are often a mirror and as such, a reflection of unresolved wounding within ourselves that can be triggered by another. I see couples therapy as an opportunity to not only deepen the relationship with your partner but also with yourself. Utilizing an attachment based lens, we will focus on gaining a better understanding of learned patterns and the familiar “dance" that frequently plays out between the two of you. Together, will also develop new ways of relating, behaving and communicating with one another in an effort to build a more fulfilling partnership.

We’re a good fit if you struggle with…

Being the helper who struggles to ask for help

Discomfort with being seen, feeling heard and taking up space

Perfectionism

Self abandonment for fear of being alone (codependency, unhealthy interpersonal relationships)

Prioritizing others' needs before your own

Self sabotaging behaviors

Saying ‘yes’ to things you don’t really want to do

The mother wound

Complex childhood trauma

Struggling to let go of control

Identity crisis and exploration

Life transitions, burnout, and goals

Anxiety and depression

Intellectualizing (difficulty feeling feelings)

MODALITIES

Internal Family Systems Therapy Los Angeles

Internal Family Systems

“IFS is a transformative tool that conceives every human being as a system of protective and wounded inner parts lead by a core Self. We believe the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Just like members of a family, inner parts are forced from their valuable states into extreme roles within us. Self is in everyone. It can’t be damaged. It knows how to heal.” - IFS institute

  • Experience increased confidence, compassion, calmness, courage, creativity, clarity, curiosity, and connectedness.

  • Get to know, understand and befriend different parts of yourself.

  • Find a way to communicate to the deepest most vulnerable parts of ourselves and how to re-contextualize painful feelings.

EMDR

“EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences.” -Maxfield, 2019
